Introduction
Our five-part lesson plans offer a number of suggestions on how you can structure
your music lessons, using Gigajam as a tool.
Each lesson plan contains supporting video footage – just click on the links
to view them. We also look at setting up a classroom, delivering the introduction
to a lesson, as well as looking at the purpose of Gigajam TV Shows and Gigajam Songbooks.
We welcome any feedback you may have and we hope you find this resource useful.

In our first lesson, we will demonstrate to the students what they will be able
to play after completing Level One of the Gigajam course. We will start by showing
the Gigajam course writers performing one of the five specially composed tunes.
The students will also have an opportunity to familiarise themselves with their
instruments of choice, as well as learn how to use the software. Once they have
run through their first music instrument lesson they will have an opportunity to
play as a band. The lesson plan contains a two bar vamp for your students to play.
They may be able to achieve this in your first session, or perhaps at the beginning
of session two.

In lesson two, we provide the students with an opportunity to consolidate their
understanding of notes, note values and their appearance. The lesson plan includes
the addition of two whole class activities; Rhythm Section Studies and the second
Live Performance Vamp.
The students will continue to develop their skills on their chosen instrument and
then work together playing live.

|
In lesson three, we provide the students with an opportunity to consolidate their
understanding through the use of the Extension Activity Workbooks. The lesson plan
includes personalised time for the students to develop their skills on their chosen
instrument as well as play live with another Live Performance Vamp.
|
|
In lesson four, we develop the students' understanding of pitch, note length and
timing using Keyboard Lesson One and the Analyser software. Answers to Tasks One
and Two of the Extensions Activity Workbook are discussed. The lesson plan includes
personalised time for the students to develop their skills on their chosen instrument
as well as play live with another Live Performance Vamp.

|
In lesson five, we use Rhythm Studies to develop the students' understanding of
rhythm. We develop the students' ability to interpret their progress using Analyser.
Task four from the Extension Activity Workbooks is discussed. The lesson plan includes
personalised time for the students to develop their skills on their chosen instrument
as well as play live with another Live Performance Vamp.
