OK. As a technique tip, we should have a look at how we actually play accents. The accents are played by bringing the stick up high.[Brian demonstrates]

Now, it's important not to create the accent by hitting hard [Brian demonstrates], but actually to use the height of the stick [Brian demonstrates] to generate an accent.

To help the accents stand out from the unaccented notes, which we call ghost notes, we should play all strokes other than the accents from a low height. [Brian demonstrates] These are called ghost notes, and we use little tap strokes to play them.
